Paediatrics

Our paediatric and child health services include generalist and a number of specialist services. We have close links with a number of tertiary centres as well as level 3 neonatal care. Whether you are a medical student or higher specialist doctor in training you will receive the learning and experience to suit your needs.

Surgery

We are a leading centre for surgery and a regional trauma centre. We offer surgical training across all of our sites covering a large range of specialties. We offer one of the biggest ranges of day surgery in the country. The Urology Department is one of the largest in the UK and is one of only five centres to be recognised by The Urology Foundation, the European Robotic Urological Section and the British Association of Urological Surgeons as a training centre.

East Kent offers excellent training opportunities on all three main sites in both Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine: Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQMH) in Margate, Kent & Canterbury Hospital (K&CH) in Canterbury and the William Harvey Hospital (WHH) in Ashford.

Histopathology

The histopathology trainee posts allow trainees to develop skills in line with the Royal College of Pathology curriculum whilst being supported by the cellular pathology department. Learning opportunities and service commitments are dependent on the grade of the trainee. Support is offered from the educational supervisor, who collates feedback from other consultants, meets with the trainee regularly often informally and gives regular feedback
