WHH hosts medical student training

CEO Susan Acott during medical student training
On Tuesday 15 May and Wednesday 16 May, the William Harvey Hospital hosted the King’s College London Stage 3, Year 4 formative Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for medical students.
Outside of London, the William Harvey was the only acute site where this took place.
King’s is the largest centre for the education of doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals in Europe. Within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, the King’s College London GKT School of Medical Education is responsible for the education and training of medical students.
The prefix ‘GKT’ refers to King’s longstanding connection with its hospital partners and their respective medical schools – Guy's, King’s College Hospital and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
At the William Harvey, on each day 56 medical students rotated through seven clinical scenarios. Each of the students had already attended placements at either QEQM or WHH rotating through child health, emergency medicine, critical care, long-term conditions and women’s health.
The 14 stations (seven on each day) reflected these placements. The two days were both successful, and helped by 60 doctors acting as examiners, 17 staff and Year 4 medical students acting as invigilators and 27 staff and Year 5 medical students acting as patients.
Thank you to everyone who took part, especially our Chief Executive Susan Acott and Finance Director Philip Cave.
