Dr Kumar Rudra with Dr Medha Kanitkar – Winner of the competition

On 26 April 2018 the annual Core Medical Trainee Presentation Competition took place at the Education Centre, QEQM following the monthly Mortality and Morbidity meeting.

Six Core Medical Trainees took part in the competition and the academic content of each of their talks was of an extremely high standard. Key points were described through excellent presentations that ranged from Rheumatology to Neurology, Respiratory Medicine to Cardiology and also unique talks on Venoms and Toxins.

It goes without saying and especially from all the feedback received from Consultants and Junior Doctors who attended the educational afternoon, that it was a most enjoyable and a brilliant academic event. There were praises galore for all the speakers for the wide range of topics that the trainees talked about.

The trainees were judged by a panel of three comprising of Dr Kumar Rudra (Consultant Geriatrician & College Tutor for Medicine), Dr Sunil Lobo (Consultant Acute Medicine) and Dr Ehtasham Ahmad (Higher Specialty Trainee in Diabetes & Endocrinology). Huge well done to all who participated and in particular to the winner Dr Medha Kanitkar (CT2) and to the runner-up Dr Desiree Pereira (CT2) who received a £50 and £25 Amazon voucher respectively.

A very big thank you to all those who presented and to everyone who attended for supporting and maintaining the highest of standards of Postgraduate Medical Education in the country and for making us all so proud of QEQM as a centre of National excellence in Medical Education.
