I also am active in research and audit work and have several publications in peer reviewed journals. I am an accredited Educational Supervisor and have experience of guiding many students and trainees over the years.

We are offering a unique opportunity to final year medical students to participate in an elective placement in Kent & Canterbury Hospital for period of one month and I will be the supervisor for one candidate in July 2022. This will be focused on surgical specialties and you will have opportunity to do activities in Vascular surgery, Urology, Orthopedics and General Surgery. This would fulfil the requirements of commitment to specialty for core/run through surgical training applications and will give you a distinct advantage with improving your understanding in a number of surgical specialties. You will learn basics of the specialties mentioned above with attendance at clinics, ward rounds, operating theatre, MDMs etc. You will be placed with the team and follow a predetermined program of activities we have put in place. You will have the opportunity to learn some practical skills such as knot tying and suturing as well as undertaking a QIP. You will work with Consultants as well as the rest of the surgical team consisting of medical, and nursing staff as well as allied health care professional such as Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses etc. We will teach you what these specialties have to offer and will guide you through what you need to achieve to be successful in your future applications for Core/Higher Surgical training. We will also supervise any QIP you undertake.
