General Surgery - Mr Veera Allu

"I am a Consultant General and Emergency Surgeon, with over 15 years of experience in various roles within General Surgery. I have been working in the William Harvey Hospital for over 4 years. I have been organising ongoing study sessions and workshops within the department and actively teach juniors with bed side clinics. I am looking forward to having a medical student with me to help them with their career, specifically in the surgical specialties. 

A General Surgical placement is an idea place for a student to understand the ins and outs of Surgery, getting a perspective beyond theory. They can learn basic principles of General Surgery, including but not limited to history taking, examinations, investigations and definitive management. You will be following me on my day to day activities, such as daily ward rounds, clinics, theatres and on calls. You will receive ongoing teaching on the job, with active participation to nurture an interest in surgery. You will be able to gain first hand the general surgical experience and be able to make an informed decision about their career."
