All Consultants, Trust Doctors, SAS Doctors & Clinical or Education Fellows should follow the online study leave application  process(This link can only be accessed within the hospital IT network or using the remote-working VPN on a Trust device).


* Please ensure your study leave has been approved before you claim your expenses.

* Expenses must be claimed within 92 days of attendance.

1. What is my study leave entitlement?

A. Please find the entitlements below:

Grade  Time Allowance  Financial Allowance 
Consultants 30 days over a three-year period; preferably 10 days per annum. £1000 per annum
SAS Doctors 30 days over a three-year period; preferably 10 days per annum.  £1000 per annum 
Physician Associates  30 days over a three-year period; preferably 10 days per annum.  £1000 per annum 
Clinical Fellows  30 days over a three-year period; preferably 10 days per annum.  £1000 per annum 
Medical Training Initiative (MTI) Doctors 30 days over a three-year period; preferably 10 days per annum.  £1000 per annum 
Trust Doctors in a non-training post  30 days over a three-year period; preferably 10 days per annum.  £1000 per annum 


2. Has there been any changes in the study leave entitlements due to covid-19?

A. Yes, there has been changes in the number of days you can apply for study leave and the amount you can claim, which is available in this  Revised FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) document that can be viewed here.

A. Please find the latest policy available in the Trust policy centre - Senior study leave policy. This can be accessed within the Trust network using trust systems.

5. Can I claim expenses for the courses that I had previously attended?

Please ensure your study leave has been approved before you claim your expenses. Expenses must be claimed within 92 days of attendance. You will not be able to claim expenses retrospectively.
