What does MedStart4U offer?

A MedStart4U taster day offers a great insight into what a career in medicine involves and includes an introduction to what a day in the life of trainee doctor is actually like. The day will also include tips on applying to medical school, aptitude tests, and interview skills. There are simulation scenarios and practice sessions using clinical skills models as well as Q and A sessions with medical students and doctors.  Our medical students mentor school students throughout the day and school students get a very personal insight into what it is like being a medical student.

Learning how to take blood and do some suturing on models really helps students understand the clinical side of things while there are really practical sessions on getting into medical school.

Previous MedStart4U participants said...

The MedStart4U Taster Days are held by the Medical Education Directorate for Years 11 and 12 who are considering applying for medical school. It is not suitable for students who wish to become nurses, physiotherapists or midwives etc. It is only for those considering becoming a doctor in medicine.
