QEQM receives Regional Centre Approval from RCS to run START Course

The QEQM Hospital has received Regional Centre Approval from the Royal College of Surgeons of England to run the START Course (Systematic Training in Acute illness and Recognition and Treatment for Surgery). This approval specifically applies to the Medical Education Department.

Mr Robert Insall has kindly agreed to act as the course director. He runs this course at the Royal College and Mr Sudhakar Mangam will be helping him set up this course at QEQM.

START is a one day course aimed primarily at foundation doctors and the medical students but could also be useful for core trainees and trust junior doctors.

The maiden course will run on 30 September 2017 and aim to have 30 candidates. This can be increased to a maximum of 48 in future courses. Provisions have been made for 10 internal spaces for doctors within the trust with about 20% reduced course fees.

There has been a significant amount of work behind the scenes to make this happen, with specific thanks going to Jackie Foreman (Medical Education Administrator) and Rags Subramaniam (Ops Manager) amongst others at the QEQM Medical Education Centre.
